You're talking rationally. MS is talking money. They have modeled that a dedicated NPU will be more efficient for CoPilot always on. It's not a "high performance" situation.
Not sure what you mean by always on AI component. Always on as in always available, yes. Always on as in only for always on AI functionality, no, since it'll be used for more that always on AI functionality.MS is pushing a subscription sales model. They wanted an always on AI component in Windows that you were willing to pay for. If it drained your battery rapidly or worked like dog excrement, no one would buy it. The NPU helps with both.
IMHO the vast majority aren't going to buy based on AI regardless of performance.MS is pushing a subscription sales model. They wanted an always on AI component in Windows that you were willing to pay for. If it drained your battery rapidly or worked like dog excrement, no one would buy it. The NPU helps with both.
It's the opposite for me as long as Zen7 is 32 core on the desktop.Well if zen7 is also AM5, then I don't have to pay too much interest in Zen6, as I then will first do an upgrade when zen8 is launched. 😛
good plan. It's the opposite for me as long as Zen7 is 32 core on the desktop.
That would mean a minimum 33% MT gain from Zen6 (assuming 24C SKU DT) even before IPC or clock frequency gains - which is a pretty decent gain for a single generation when you don't have to pay for a new mobo or RAM on top of the CPU.
I'm on a XTX also the plan is to go RDNA 5 later that year.getting zen6 x3d for me will depend on what GPU's look like. 7800X3D with a 7900XTX , i dont see the point of upgrading CPU that has ~ 40% more performance as 7900XTX will just be a massive bottleneck.
probably 2028 onwardsI'm on a XTX also the plan is to go RDNA 5 later that year.
Just play at 1080p. You’ll see more gainz with Zen 6 X3D then. Problem solved. 😉getting zen6 x3d for me will depend on what GPU's look like. 7800X3D with a 7900XTX , i dont see the point of upgrading CPU that has ~ 40% more performance as 7900XTX will just be a massive bottleneck.
I fairly certain I saw rumor of H2 2027 for RDNA 5.probably 2028 onwards
I wanna go X3D but I'm more than a little conscious of the problems the Zen5 X3D SKUs had.I'm just waiting for the 12 core single CCD X3D Zen 6 chip
holiday 2028 as per windows centralI fairly certain I saw rumor of H2 2027 for RDNA 5.
unless both vendors have pushed back to 2028.
What problems do you refer to?I wanna go X3D but I'm more than a little conscious of the problems the Zen5 X3D SKUs had.
Something about failure or burnout on certain mobos? What problems do you refer to?
Stay away from Asrock motherboards.I wanna go X3D but I'm more than a little conscious of the problems the Zen5 X3D SKUs had.
This story is mostly about consoles are we sure that will affect DGPU's?holiday 2028 as per windows central

Yeah?I'm not worried about it at all on my asus motherboard.
i'm not on a 800 series motherboard.Yeah?

Yeah. ASRock isn't alone. Asus also had press releases and incidents due to BIOS versions with incorrect behavior twice now, around 7800X3D launch for 600 series board and recently for 800 series boards.i'm not on a 800 series motherboard.
As I said not worried at all.
i'm not running a 7800X3D on my board.Yeah. ASRock isn't alone. Asus also had press releases and incidents due to BIOS versions with incorrect behavior twice now, around 7800X3D launch for 600 series board and now for 800 series boards.
Yeah, that's great. But Asus is questionable advice for a new X3D buyer when they are looking into reported problems right now.i'm not running a 7800X3D on my board.
VSOC manually capped at 1.2v since day 1
I trust my build been doing this for a long ass time.
yes but I never said buy asus I said don't buy asrock.Yeah, that's great. But Asus is questionable advice for a new X3D buyer when they are looking into reported problems right now.
Eh, it read like an endorsement. If a person is cautious because X3D might get zapped by a board there are more to avoid than ASRock. Avoid Asus too. Especially since my board hasn't had a BIOS update since Asus put out that press release.yes but I never said buy asus I said don't buy asrock.
And only pointed out I was using an asus board 🙂
