Then you can also say: 😉
$12.95 a month.
Why would I spend $1500 on a HTPC when I could have made my "TiVo" look like a kids toy for so much less?
Why can't I record high definition on my "TiVo"? Oh yeah, that's only through Directv for $1000 and $16 a month. Oh well, my "Tivo's" best output is only S-video anyway.
How did I use up that all the space on my 40GB "TiVo" so fast?
How much fun is it going to be to get the encrypted video off my "TiVo" so I can do as I choose with it?
Why did I think "TiVo" was a brand of DVR rather than a subscription based TV guide service?

let's see if that TiVo can do anything else an HTPC can do, such as play games. did you make that post on here from your TiVo? 😛

Dawg I just bought this at Fry's last week for $54.99 + $20 rebate = $34.99. Time to head back to Fry's and at least get a $5 price adjust.

i'm pretty sure you can do a return rebuy, a $5 credit would still make your total $30. No reason why you can't get the $9.99 AR price.

and thanks RossMan, I needed this.

I already own a ReplayTV, but bought a PVR-250 a while back (for $70AR) so that I could record shows/videos to a standard MPEG stream... however, I'm starting to like the idea of using the PVR-250 as my main TIVO-like device. Is this about the best software out there? Are there any good freeware alernatives?

Thanks!

The alternatives are SageTV, Medio Essentials, and MCE 2005. Snapstream will also come out with BeyondMedia on December 1st.

Bascially, after messing around, I have default to BeyondTV. I love how it recompresses my shows automatically and I like the interface. I would say MCE 2005 is a close second only becasue it cannot recompress my recordings as I sometimes go weeks without watching stuff.

Just called the store. There is a rebate even though the shelf didn't indicate as such.

I was weary of this at first because $9 for $69 software is a little hard to believe.

The $40 rebate printed at the Fry's register

Thanks for the info... I think I'm going to get on this deal (through outpost.com, since there isn't a Fry's in my state), but was wondering if the remote that came with the PVR-250 would work with Beyond TV? If not natively, could I just use Girder (or for that matter, I guess I could use any other remote such as my ReplayTV remote)?

As a side note, it looks like the rebate from Outpost.com is valid through 11/30... although the text of the rebate says it is valid only from Fry's Electronics (does not mention Outpost.com). Has anyone had any experience with rebates like this (ie, they only mention the B&M store in the rebate but yet the rebate is offered through their web presence)?

Thanks again!
