From what I could tell from the quote (it, even, could have been changed) is she makes "black" records the same way motown made "black" records. Black culture has its own style of singing, and she identifies her music with it, while refusing to compromise to a more commercial style.

I think Beyonce is on a pretty good track to be the next Whitney Houston, with Jay-Z as her Bobby Brown 😉

Jay-Z = President and CEO of Dej Jam Records. Considered to be a very diligent and capable executive.
Bobby Brown = Coke-head-has-been.
You=Racist.

Kanye West.

Sadly, I really enjoy some of his music. But he pisses me off with the anti-education bullsh1t "skits" thrown around his CDs. I suppose it helps him appeal to certain demographics though. Whatever sells your records, Kanye. Never was a gansta or a hustla so he's gotta do something right?

these comments on the site linked echo my sentiment...

"I?m not a big Beyonce fan but I feel like this was kind of taken out of context. This actual paragraph from Blender says:

The film, costarring Jamie Foxx and Eddie Murphy, deals with issues of race in romance and culture ? including the compromises a black group has to make in crossing over. Beyoncé says compromise is one thing she doesn?t have in common with Deena Jones. ?I make black records,? she says indignantly. ?I write records like I speak, and I don?t try to change my songs so everyone else likes them.?

"She never said anything racist or mean. She just said that she makes records to suit her; her personality, life, speech, etc."

seriously...stupid magazines tryign to sell copies...

Exactly. How would it be different from someone saying "I make hispanic records", or "I make nordic records". This place is incredible... not only can the majority of poeple completely misunderstand a simple comment, but they also take offense at the smallest thing. Pathetic.

Yeah, It's kind of like calling michael flatley a racist if he said "I perform Irish dancing." Give me a break people

That's not what she said. She said she makes black music, that's all. People just love to put words into others' mouths.
What would you think if a white guy said, "i make white records" ?
Do you think that's going to make black people want to buy the album?

She needs to pick her words more carefully or risk backlash.

actually if it wasn't for the misquote, what she said should have helped her sell records. What you bring up is a totally different beast. Black people don't follow white music (for the most part) so a white guy making that statement would be shooting himself in the foot. White people, not all, but a lot. Gravitate towards black music, and things considered "black" clothing, rims on thier car etc. Hip-Hop music is made up of mostly black artists, but is bought 80%+ by white people. The only reason there is backlash is you have the people who always want to find something bad to say about black people. And they're some who don't know how to read and assume she meant she doesn't like white people, or want white people to buy her records.

off of the logic I'm seeing on here, a black person could say "i'm black" in an interview and white people will scream "she is teh racist!"

what a damn pitty...

I don't think they're together anymore and Jay-Z has some Asian in him.

I'm pretty sure he doesn't...If he does, he doesn't make it known.

Can I get a link?

Yes...extrapolating "I make black music" to "Beyoncé Knowles only makes records for black people" is stretching it a bit...

Wow, and I thought the magazine the OP linked to was digging for racism where there was none...

But you just took the lead in that category

as much as I dislike Beyonce, she NEVER said she only makes records for black people, that is taking her comment so far out of context it's not even funny. If people are getting that from "I don't try to change my songs so everyone else likes them." they are a retard. She's saying her music is a black woman singing, and if you have a problem with black music then she could give 2 sh!ts about you. She sucks, but it's unfair she gets blasted on for people reading into her words and making huge assumptions.
You show you're a racist if you agree that saying " I make black records" is OK. Imagine Taylor Swift said "I make white records" she would be fking crucified as a racist. You racist hypocrite.

I'm sure joining the forums just to make a post attacking someone for something they said nearly 13 years ago will get you off to a great start here.

Why's this in OT? Seems like a standard-issue P&N conservative troll thread.

Why are so many white people on here such snowflakes? It's embarrassing.

She, Kanye West and Ray Nagin, belong in the same heap of trash.

100% agreed.

However I read what she said as her not changing her style to please anyone not as anything racist. Must be a slow news day?

Anyone referring to pretty much anything political that comes out of Beyonce's mouth as anything other then "off" makes me sad.

How can this twit could influence anyone is beyond me.
