lol imagination is a crime in the land of the free.

Anyway montessori creative school smells like crazy because of the name alone.

And Beyblades can be dangerous if they have the steel add-ons, for example a kid in my middle school had one and was throwing it around. The director just impounded it until the end of the day and that was it! There is no need to suspend anyone if there isn't a real reason.

This isn't just a war on common sense/childhood/imagination it's very much a war on boys.

We've allowed them to turn school, all the way from pre-school to grad school, into a very anti-male environment in every way, from how they teach now... to behavior policies... to curriculum and mandatory seminars about "don't rape any girls, boys! Because we know every one of you would do that without the proper indoctrination!" etc etc etc, you name it.

I used to think it was absurd that there were still female only colleges in this day and age. Now I think we probably need gender segregation throughout the entire school career. A lot more learning could get accomplished, and each system could tailor itself to it's respective gender.

When schools used to be built with more of a male learning style in mind, girls suffered for it. Now boys suffer because it's built with a more female learning style and behavioral standard in mind.

The only sensible answer is to immediately BAN the letters G, N & U from the alphabet, so there's no way that anyone can possible ever say the word GUN again.

In other news, we'll have to find another name for a GNU. :sneaky:

It's the teacher's fault.
If we had teachers that had half a brain, they might be able to squash issues like this.
"Gage, put that toy away and don't bring it back to school. Some kids might get confused and think its a weapon."

DONE.

I don't care what the school policy is. Policies are made for worst case instances, not to enact on every innocent issue.

Montessori used to be a good school way back in the day. Now they are just a business, they dont give a shit about the kids and their only concern is lawsuits that cut into their profit margin. A fine product of the sue-happy culture we've built up.

Of course. a Catholic one at that!

Montessori isn't a Catholic school. I found this from Wikipedia...

Montessori education is fundamentally a model of human development, and an educational approach based on that model. The model has two basic elements. First, children and developing adults engage in psychological self-construction by means of interaction with their environments. Second, children, especially under the age of six, have an innate path of psychological development. Based on her observations, Montessori believed that children at liberty to choose and act freely within an environment prepared according to her model would act spontaneously for optimal development.

I guess freedom is the freedom to do as you're told. The proven Stalinist method.

While it looks like the school over-reacted to the toy it also looks like some have distorted what happened for there own ends.

Schools are in a kind of catch 22 here because if they don't act quickly they ARE subject to being sued. When you act quickly you often act foolishly.

The toy the news story showed didn't look very frightening nor was the actual toy all the gun like so it would have been nice if the school had acted more sensibly. Why did the news story show video of a different toy, a toy that looked much less like a gun?

Still not much of a gun.

That's a whole class of shapes made to fit the human hand. Perhaps we should just remove thumbs at birth, the way many people do foreskins. That'll get rid of this whole problem.

This was the toy the kid had:

Still not much of a gun.

If they're going to ban that, then they'll have to ban drills from shop class too. Looks too much like a gun because it has a handle and a trigger.

Also need to ban glue guns and staple guns, because they even have the word gun in them. Think of the children!

Most schools have already stopped shop classes.

Or you've got people being suspended or expelled because they doodled a gun.

My doodles would sometimes feature starships or entire planets being destroyed.
Would that upgrade me straight to immediate execution?

I wouldn't even be surprised or shock if a kid doodled a gun. With so many popular media/video games that have depictions of guns and violence like GTA V and COD.

That'll teach him to be a freethinker and enjoy school. Looks like those parents might be rebellious freethinkers themselves. That hippy-looking father is going to college, what a scumbag. Those people are clearly in no position to be raising children.

I actually have one of those.

Maybe I'll bring it to school to see if the SRO will tackle me.

Yea, damn him for trying to get educated and do better for his family. who the fuck does he think he is. Didn't they get the memo? No procreation without filing the correct paperwork.
