I knew ATI was in Canada but I had no idea AT&T charged so much for long distance to there. I am having problems with my 9700Pro. I called ATI 2 weeks ago and sat on hold for 20-25 minutes or so waiting for a tech guy, after the initial screener let me thru.

Anyway, get the phone bill today. I had a 50 minute call and the charge for that 1 call was $70.50. And I am on the "1 rate plan" which apparently doesn't cover Cananda. Man......what a bummer........

Just wanted to warn anyone - check with your phone company before calling ATI and getting stuck on hold!

Well, just called AT&T customer service. I got to a call center in India. Imagine that....

Apparently my current plan is .07 a min domestic, but "international", i.e. ATI in Canada, is billed at the international rate, which in my case is $1.40 minute. Amazing....

Anyway, just got off the phone. I had to sign up for an international plan for $3.95 a month. But she was able to adjust the call to ATI from $70 down to $18. I guess it's time to look at VoIP.

I know this is a little OT for this forum, but again, I just wanted to warn anyone else you might need to call ATI. AFAIK, no, they do not have a toll free number.

Once on Spring break I lost my CC at the airport. I called my dad from the hotel collect(stupid but I was already drunk).

The bill was 90 dollars for a 4 minute phone call. He sent it back to the phone company and asked to have the mexican phone company bill him directly. We never got billed for it.

My wife checked and for that little $3,95 a month plan, it's only $.08 a minute for her to call England.

Don't you wish there was some kind of message warning like you get when going to an ATM machine as to what the transaction cost is.
