Here is my little story:

Ordered a in-stock marked laptop before noon PST on Monday and selected 2 day shipping in an attempt to get it on Thursday the latest, given their 1-2 business days before item ships policy.

Get an email from them 9:07am PST on Tuesday saying they having problem verifying the shipping address with the credit card...even though I have ordered from them on at least two other occasions using the very same credit card and shipping address. The address was on file with the card company on all 3 purchases. Call them up 3 minutes after email and re-verified the address.

Wednesday morning before they open I find that the status go from Processing to Packaged...and stay at Packaged. Have a nagging feeling that will not go from packaged to shipped till Thursday or even Friday. Was going to cancel the order and place order with Newegg since they now have them back in stock, but ZZF does not allow cancellation on Packaged/Shipped orders.

Now starting to get concerned, I check resellerratings to read up on ZZF since I have not purchased from them in last 6 months or so. I find they their rating has been going down and find a good number of complaints.

One reoccurring tactic I find in the complains is that ZZF will flag orders of "in-stock" items as Packaged or even Shipped even though the item is out of stock and neither packaged nor shipped (in some cases the tracking number given is not found on UPS/FedEx site for days). The do this because once an item is flagged as Packaged or Shipped, you can not cancel the order. They never send out-of-stock notifications. Some customers on resellerratings had their "in-stock" order sit in Packaged/Shipped limbo for two weeks or more.

With this new information in hand, I call ZZF around 2:00pm PST and navigate through their phone system intent on not allowing you to talk to a live person or leave a message and was able to finally get a live person. I ask the customer support rep bluntly is the item in stock....after a good 5 minutes or so I find that the laptop is not in stock and will be back in stock Thursday.

I this point I am fuming and tell them to cancel the order. I get "But Sir, it will be back in stock tomorrow". I do not care if it was back in stock in the next 2 seconds, I do not do business with places that lie to me. She types a bit and tells me the order is cancelled. I say fine, but I want an e-mail confirmation it has. Was told they only send e-mail cancellation notices if you cancel the order online. Then I ask for her name and extension. She gave her first name but no extension.

After hanging up with ZZF, I check Newegg and placed order for the same laptop from them. Thursday morning I find that me so called cancelled ZZF order was just shipped out.

I was able to cancel the NewEgg order in time so I would not get two laptops sent to me (fyi...laptops are not refundable from both ZZF and NewEgg to prevent renters and such), but this type of behavior is unacceptable.

I have done a good bit a research and this laptop is not carried in any of the local B&M stores. Most B&M stores have a limited selection and have laptops that do not have the spec's I am looking for.

Even if I didn't need something ASAP, I wouldn't be too happy if a business threw me a line of BS rather than telling me they were out of stock. All "gotta-have-it" attitudes aside, there's no way you can call ZZF's behavior ethical.

um... you could say that it was instock at the place they order from, and they were just drop shipping it. that is common....

I have already been to three different local B&M stores before I placed the order (CompUSA, Circuit City and Best Buy) and they did not have laptops with the spec's I was looking for. Please thread crap somewhere else thank you.

I just ordered tons of parts from ZZF and I didn't have one issue with them concernig items or shipping. But it does worry me that so many people are experiencing problems. Seems people are having issues with Newegg as well. This does not bode well.

i love how all these people come and complain that a company is going downhill just because of 1 incident.

i used newegg for a long time and never had a single problem. i still use them if they have a better price or deal.

i've been using zzf more often now because of the free 2nd day shipping. i tend to find that the price you pay at newegg + 3 day shipping usually is about the same as zzf's with the free 2nd day shipping. while it ends up being the same price, zzf can get it here faster.

i have yet to have a problem with zzf also.

As I noted, this was a trend that I found with ZZF complaints on resellerratings. The number of complaints exceeded 1 incident.

This thread was a heads up that their ratings are going down on resellerratings and not because of my problem with them.

I can see why your post count got that high, you seem to like to not also thread crap, but try to hijack and change into AMD/Intel debates.

So what's you next step, try to personally attack or insult me...or turn this into a P&N thing somehow?

no, actually that wasnt the point.

im just saying there is nothing special about that laptop other than it being Turion based.

o yea, did i mention these threads, basically bashing companies, piss me off?

"Company XXX beware!!" i had an issue, and out of the 4.5million ppl who have ordered from them, and the 1.3 million who reviewed them on ResellerRatings.com, in the past 6 months, 10,000 ppl have had issues with item being labeled as instock, but actually out of stock.

No, no...thats not the point. He just wants an honest update on the status of the order. I don't mind if something goes out of stock, just so long as they TELL ME its out of stock.
