CUSTOMER:
Please review the attached pdf file and let me know if I qualify for the $30 USD Abit rebate, since I purchased the Abit AX8 motherboard (TigerDirect item number A458-2114) from TigerDirect.com on 4/29/06.
ABIT USA:
Due to the price drop of AX8 to $64.99; both Tiger and ABIT will not honor this rebate. Please contact Tiger Rebate Center if you have any question.
CUSTOMER:
Thank you responding to my e-mail. I carefully reviewed the Abit offer BEFORE placing the AX8 order with TigerDirect.
The Abit rebate form DOES NOT say anything about invalidating the offer if the purchase price is below xx.xx USD. The stipulations are:
-purchase a retail (boxed) AX8 motherboard from TigerDirect between 4/13/06 and 4/30/06.
-complete the rebate form
-enclose proof of product purchase in the form of original or copy of sales receipt from TigerDirect.
-enclose original UPC barcode and EAN barcode
-postmark by 5/30/06
-limit one rebate per name, address, household or company
From 4/29/06 (date of my transaction) to 5/02/06 (today), the AX8 motherboard at the TigerDirect website has a REGULAR selling price of $64.99 plus shipping and applicable tax. The webpage DOES NOT specify that this is a promotional price, and therefore, many not be combined with any other AX8 rebate.
At this time, the AX8 motherboard has been shipped to my residence. Unless you can point to another clause in the rebate form that would invalidate the $30 Abit rebate, I must insist that Abit honor the rebate if I comply with ALL the terms as appeared on the rebate. Failure to do so will constitute fraud on the part of Abit and require that I elevate this issue to the proper Federal AND State agencies for judicial review. I may also seek personal and compensatory damage against Abit USA. Furthermore, I will post this information at various computer forums to prevent others from making the same mistake of purchasing an Abit product.
I have always been a loyal Abit customer. Unfortunately, it appears that new Abit management has decided to use deceitful advertising to sell the product. It is my hope that we could achieve a win-win outcome.
Please review the enclosed forms and provide me with you thought on this problem.
ABIT USA:
After contacting Tiger, Tiger has proof of sku level and there has been no rebate offered. Furthermore, ABIT is not responsible for any Tiger error.
ABIT will not offer this rebate and will be automatic rejected. Tiger has acknowledged your option as to return your purchase. Please contact Tiger customer service.
Sorry for your inconvenience.
Lesson learned:
-Never buy stuffs from TigerDirect (should have listened to others here)
-Never buy stuffs from Abit
I hope others can learn from my experience with this transaction. I also predict that Abit will get out of the motherboard business within the next two years. I've built approximately $800 worth of Abit board per year. As of today, Asus and ECS will share the spot vacated by Abit.
