Beware of someone hijacking email messages after winning an Ebay auction

I just won an LCD auction from Ebay and the seller emailed me with this message asking if I sent it...I did not and know nothing of this address. They insert your auction item and your email address with this message. I just emailed the seller saying it wasnt me told him to send the item as noted on my paypal addy and message. Some people ...

Anyhow, this item is a gift for my spouse, and I
forgot to tell you that I want it to remain a
surprise. I will be out of town for a little bit on
business, so could you please send the item to my
business office address where I will be for the next
few weeks. The address is below. Please make sure you
send it there and not the address already provided -
that will ruin the surprise.

Interesting scam -- if they used eBay's service to send the fake message to the seller it's probably worth the time to send eBay (SafeHarbor?) a note.

Pull a P-P-P-P-Powerbook on him. Get a piece of wood and draw a LCD on it, box it up all nice and crap, toss in a note telling him to F-off, and ship it to that address.

i've heard about these types of scams... a lot of the time it's not their address, it's the address of a place near them, then they camp outside across the street waiting for a package to be dropped off. best way to get him is send a package of bricks (or whatever) and tell the local police to wait nearby to see who picks up the package.
