beware of lcd warranties

I had purchased a Sony 19" lcd panel from Newegg only to find out that after two days of use the monitor could not stay turned on & hold an image for more than a fraction of a second before going black. Alright, called up Sony support, and they're telling me over the phone I've got a 30 day warranty!!! Newegg's product listing says 3 years. Quite a discrepancy especially for such an expensive piece of equipment! I have a replacement lcd panel here now that works, but dang if this one goes dead in another month, I've got a lovely $500 paper-weight!

If I need another LCD it'll probably be a Samsung again. Since heard they got a 0 dead pixel policy. Someone posted a topic about it somewhere around here.

Why exactly did Sony say you had a 30-day warranty? Was NewEgg not an authorized reseller? Did NewEgg sell you a refurb? (Did you BUY a refurb?)

I bought a Sony LCD from NewEgg, and I confirmed with various Sony techs that it was covered for three years. I'd be interested to hear more about your LCD.

Straight over the phone with Sony support they told me it was a 30 day warranty on a brand new LCD monitor. You only get the longer warranty if you purchase the extended warranty plan through Newegg (I'm guessing, we didn't go into that because I didn't purchase the extended warranty plan because I was under the assumption I already had 3 years).

thats right in fact in 30 days they will give you a new monitor after 30 you get a refurb
