I don't know of a single bar around me that uses anything but a 14oz pint glass, although many of the so-called beer bars have other glasses for the various beer styles.
Many of the local bars also use their pint glasses for tall cocktail glasses, for which they're much too large. A single tall gin and tonic, rum and Coke, or whiskey and ginger ale tastes pretty weak in such a big glass, so the bars tend to overpour their mixed drinks, often substantially.
Shot glasses are another one. Many are barely 1oz. The bar I usually go to has 2oz shot glasses (because the owner thinks they look cool) that the bartenders aren't supposed to fully fill, yet they still do.
