I love the arrogance of college students.

Trust me, you learn a LOT more in real life than you ever will in college.

I learned more in just about every subject in my 30s than I did previously.

It's no fiction that youth is wasted on the young. :p

I said most people, let me guess, you tend to learn well on your own?

Actually, most of the people I know are the same way. The amount of knowledge and wisdom gained after 30 makes the teens and 20s look like preschool.
What is your job? You wouldn't happen to be in academia would you?

No, I'm a business owner.

You seem to be fixed on the idea that older people don't learn... even though everyone over 30 who has responded has said this is completely false.

Completely and entirely false, right... Tell that to the middle class people who have kids and are banging their heads against the wall because of how much they hate their job and how they really have nothing to live for etc.. Sure that may seem irrelevant but it's not irrelevant because these people don't have a hobbies or are doing anything but the monotomous daily routine.

Plus more likely than not you don't realized when you learned something when you were younger as you do now because learning occurs much less frequently then when you're a kid.

Agreed. Words of wisdom, here..
But why 30 ? I think it's somewhere closer to 25 for a lot of people.

You learn the rudimentary things when you are younger, you learn about the inportant thing, life, as you get older as personal experience is the best teacher by far. Now some like you are just stupid and the important things, you know, the things where you really have to observe to figure out, just completley go over your head.

The more you learn, the more you figure out you dont know. Most people never stop learning, never stop trying to better themselves, never stop growing.

Usually you hear out of youth they know it all, or know better then thier elders. But as people get older you always hear the same saying, if i could go back with the knowledge i have now.

I would have replied, but Red said just about everything I would have said.

Again, I'd like to point out the arrogance of youth. It's amazing how a teen or early 20s person thinks they know everything... but by the time they are 30 or 40 they realize what complete idiots they were back then.

College is not about learning things. College is about learning how to teach yourself things.

If you go to college to learn things, you PROBABLY won't be very successful.

PMango, please at least make an attempt to make sense when you post. Either that, or stop posting.

The post I quoted above is completely nonsensical and unintelligible.

Arrogance transcends age. Old or young, good ideas are good ideas, bad ideas are bad ideas.

People of ALL age brackets think that ideas that come from outside of their group can be arrogant.

Also, age doesn't provide experience. Experience provides experience. It doesn't matter how old you are.

The day you close your mind off to other ideas is the day you stop learning.

i would say that while i did a lot of book learning in my younger years, i have done much more practical learning in my older years - hands on learning at work (i'm an engineer), meaning of life learning at home (being married, having kids). while the book learning was a necessary precursor to the life-learning, i have learned MUCH more since turning 30 then i learned before.

EDIT

pmango, you're a jerk and amazingly arrogant, condescending, and ignorant. as i read through this thread and your replies to everyone it's obvious that you aren't really interested in an answer you your question for those who would know (ie, those of us over 30), you just want to make a stupid point and put everyone else down. this statement:

Thats funny, I was with you until you opted to insult me, don't think you're smarter than me just because you have at least 15 years on me, if anything you're dumber than me considering my age to experience ratio. Yes thats right, I probably know more now than you did at my age, and don't even get me started on the whole 'arrogant kids think they know everything horseshit'.
