Swappa for both. EBay now has that six month deal that makes being a seller a hassle. As a buyer Swappa makes sure the ESN / IMEI / MEID is clean.

Swappa hasn't let me down in three different transactions.

swappa

Matter of fact, how about a few of us get together and clone what swappa does?

Ebay and Paypal are horrible. I wish there was better competition in that market. Thankfully in the cell phone market there is Swappa. I just sold a phone on Swappa last week and no issues.

I usually go Craigslist first, then Swappa would be my second choice. Craigslist hasn't failed me yet though, so I haven't actually had to use Swappa yet.

I've sold and bought on Swappa. Great experiences all the way around.

Of course, if you don't want to pay shipping or PayPal fees.... I guess CL is one of the only options.

One thing I like about Swappa is that since it's gotten so popular, it's a pretty good source to quickly check 2nd hand prices for devices. It's not always accurate, but it's a fast way to get a general idea.

Ebay will get you top dollar - buyers are more savvy/proficient on Swappa so the prices tend to be closer to what its really worth....i.e. "RARE IN PERFECT CONDITION SAMSUNG S5, RARE MODEL 500USD GET IT NOW" doesn't work on Swappa

But swappa offers a better model in terms of trust between seller and buyer; the seller has to post pictures, get their imei verified, etc. before they can list. The buyer also is more intelligent so you won't get stupid returns, and I'd GUESS (i.e. no proof) you have a lesser rate of buyers filing a complaint and try to rip you off by claiming they never received anything.

Ebay has such buyer biased policies that I don't like selling there anymore. Especially for likely scam targets like phones. I've dealt with more than a few idiot buyers who can't be bothered to read the listing. Craigslist is still my choice if you're in a larger metro area.

I agree. I don't sell except on Craigslist anymore. Unfortunately it is not close to metro area here so the market rather sucks, for both sellers and buyers.

If the phone has any damage, I'd recommend NOT selling it on eBay.

I once sold a phone with a cracked screen on there that was clearly labeled as "DAMAGED, sold AS IS" and I still got negative feedback on the transaction. Apparently the buyer was annoyed that the water damage sensor was triggered inside the phone, although the phone worked fine and I had no way of knowing the sensor was tripped without taking apart the phone.
