better to mail, or submit resume online??

So lets say that you see a few job positions online, and you are interested in applying for it. they do have a section to email the resume. Is it better to type up the resume and cover letter, and mail directly the the person of contact?

I figure it might be better, to show that your going the "extra" mile, but I dont know how employers veiw this.

How would you as an employer view this, if someone mailed you a hardcopy of a resume, instead of submitting via, monster.com or whatever.

That depends entirely on the person you're sending it to. Some people like the ease of email and would rather not have to deal with getting a letter and having the hard copy. Others are the complete opposite and hate computers and won't use them.

I personally wouldn't give extra consideration to someone sending me a herd copy, but that's just me. It is specifically said to email it on the monster.com ad then you would definitely lose points.

I think it would be sad if an employer had an opinion of someone based on HOW their resume was sent to them. They should be looking at all candidates who could serve their company well in other respects.

if yo usee the job position online, chances are that the people interested in hiring you are pretty familiar with computers ...

go ahead and email it.

If there's an email option - I always use it. Even if they send your resume into the trash bin, at least you can give them some worm virus.

Most business will scan your resume and destroy it anyways.

E-Mail it in the appropriate format.
