Hi Guys,

Just upgrading my system, and im torn between getting 2x 9800GX2 in Quad SLI or 3 x 9800GTX in Triple SLI.

Im not talking about dollar value here, just which would offer the best gaming and video editing perfromance.

Getting XFX 790i Ultra & QX 9770, to run the system.

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Money ain't the problem 🙂

3X 9800GTX will likely provide better ultimate performance, although it is hard to say at this point.

I would assume scaling from 3->4 GPUs is not so good, and the 9800GTX is faster than the 9800GX2 at stock... 600/1500/2000 for the GX2 vs. 675/1688/2200 for the GTX. If you would throw overclocking into the equation... GX2's don't seem to go much beyond 700MHz, meanwhile the GTX is rumored to easily hit 800MHz+ speeds.

Regardless, I don't think anyone will be disappointed with either 9800GX2 Quad SLI or 9800GTX Tri-SLI.
