the one thing I kinda think was annoying about it is that they never showed the parents. where are the parents?!?!?! also I thought it ended without a closing. anyway, great movie and I want to see it again.

Anyone recognize areas this was filmed at? Obviously that was camelot/family fun center in anaheim, but i couldnt really pick much anything else out. I know some scenes were shot in the UCLA area, but didnt really recognize them. I did see "woodbridge high school" on a few tshirts and such, but the cheerleaders wore what looked to be Brea Olinda HS colors (as well as their mascot, the wildcats). The lettermen's jackets i assume were bogus, because they had a "W" (insinuating woodbridge, i guess), but the colors were off. Woodbridge is red and gold, right? Definitely not green.

justin lin purposely left out the parents. he said something along the lines of: it was to show that the kids were independent of their parents and in control of their own lives.

Not as much? Hmmm, the ending was a bit too much for me. I think I would have liked the movie much more had the ending followed their lives a bit more, doesn't feel like it wrapped all the loose ends together...

Anyhow, I'd just like to comment how well the underground community is promoting the movie, and MTV is just tripping over itself, cancelling the Movie Special viewings, where the hell are the commercial spots? Etc... MTV needs to do more if this movie is really going to hit the main stream...

This last weekend, in addition to this week, are really important to the movie, since it's in a lot of more mainstream but not hugely APA communities...I'm sure I'll get a bazillion emails updating me anyway. :)

I'd like to say the ending is predictable but only because I read about it here.

I think the movie was OK. I wouldn't see it again, and I doubt I'll rent the DVD. I liked how they really got punked by those real AZN GanGsTeRz.

Yep. Supposedly the movie was loosely based on that event. It was a big deal in the OC asian community.

Yup...very loosely based...

Similarities include that it happened on New Year's Eve, 4 Asian overachievers, cheerleader they both liked, cocky guy with sporty car from ritzy school across town, academic decathlon, one less intelligent aloof guy, stealing computer parts, intricate plan with floorplans and rehearsals to rob house when lead guy double-crossed...clincher was the rubbing alcohol used to make him choke on his own vomit

I actually went to Sunny Hills many years back though it happened before I started there

Very weird seeing this movie ... I went to Troy during another of the Honor Roll Mafia incidents and seeing all those incidents brought back a lot of memories .... and I distinctly remember the Sunny Hills braining incident ... very crazy. The weird thing is they never mentioned that they shot in the city of Fullerton but I could've sworn that the scene (fairly early in the movie) where you see his house right next to an oil rig ... that has to be the housing complex near the Golf Course off Brea Boulevard (sorry for those not familiar with this area). The other interesting thing about this movie is that I've noticed that at High Schools the hard-core asians aren't at the top of the academic food chain .... there were still a bunch of "super" smart kids always smarter than them.

It was filmed at Cypress High School. The lockers, gym, raquetball courts, pretty much most of the high school scenes. There was some filming at UCLA and the neighborhood scenes were filmed at the Sorrento homes in Cypress as well.

The director's brother went to Cypress HS so I guess that's where they did alot of the filming at.
