better keyboard app for android??

If the OP has big hands, then swype might not be the best option or the best suggestion. I love swype-like keyboards, especially the FlexT9 keyboard, but if my fat finger covered several keys at once, it might be more difficult to swype accurately than to use a normal keyboard.

Just try a bunch of keyboards! Many have free ad-supported versions, and those that dont are generally $3 or less and they all have a 15 minute return policy so you can try it (very quickly) and return it if necessary. Ckeck out "big buttons keyboard" and tablet keyboard as suggested above.

Small devices are basically incompatible with large hands. You're fighting a losing battle so you should adapt as best as you can. Your smaller/skinnier friends will laugh at your inability to type as fast as them and you might not be able to ever fix this completely.

also if you're in a quiet place, give voice input a shot. i use it quite often

I was a swype fan but then got swiftkey on Amazon free app of the day and was just addicted to it. As mentioned before, swiftkey's prediction is crazy good. It really learns a lot based on what you type, the words don't even have to be in english for it to be able to do this.
