Anyone with a shuttle box is going to be out of luck using this over-engineered piece of crap unless your directly hooked up to a nuclear power plant!

I'm sorry but if HardOCP results are correct, and there are others that confirm, you nvidia cultist are going to be converting to ATI.

ur a bit late there dude . Nvidia redesigned the power scheme so you wont need a reactor to power your rig.

Hmmm, wondering why didn't mention that. Thanx.

I'll wait to see what the real world results will be though when one gets into our hand though because I'm still running a Radeon 7000 on one rig and a 9600 on the other and I would like to build a new rig soon.

Yeah, I guess it's personal opinion. But let's see the final results of the finished product.

Nvidia didn't redesign anything.

They just said if you're not overclocking, a 350W PS is probably okay.

The article says you are only going to need one power supply connector for the 6800U Rob94hawk.
A new bios is supposedly going to eliminate the need for both connectors.

What's the problem? Other than designing and paying for a connector you didn't need.

I guess there will be an overclocking bios that will need both conectors????

My brain can't take much more of this. What do we have to do to get through to you. You don't HAVE to buy nvidia if you don't want to. If you own a shuttle or similar XPC and only want nvidia touching your AGP slot, you are either going to buy a 6800 vanilla, or 6800GT. Otherwise, your out of luck and you will have to settle for ATI in your puter even if you didn't want one in the first place.

I have found however, that people often do find ways around things. Those that are determined anyway.

are u sure there was no redesign? BFG technologies tried to run a 6800U with one power connector only and got artifacts in 3dmark

Old news which is incorrect, get a real computer and then you can make comments about computer hardware. Even my mum has a much more powerful computer than you and she just surfs the net! ;)

There is an article on the home page that tells nVidia reduced their minimum from 480 to 350 watt power supply.

OMG! That's so funny coming from someone that still lives with their mother!LOL

My daughter has a more powerful PC than myself and she surfs the net as well! Should I be sad?

Nah, cause I fully intend on plunking down some serious cash for the X800XT along with the AMD 3700 (when amd decides to release it) along with a nice big ass Dell 2001FP so I can play Warcraft the frozen throne in 1600x1200!
Reign of Chaos kind of gives my ancient artifact a hard time everyone in a while.

But seriously, I'm not looking for a flame war. Getting back to the topic...

1. I was a little irked after the ATI X800XT review only used one extra molex and the nVidia used 2! Especially since I am looking to build my 1st temporarily top of the line PC. I didn't want my electric meter to be spinning like a helicopter taking off! Hence my "piece of crap" comment.

2. I didn't know I was late to the nVidia update party. I can't keep track of all the latest reviews. I just don't have that kind of time. So thanx for the heads up.

Why does ATI have all the little fanboiz? Not saying you can't have a brain and a 2-digit age and like them, but nobody's ever like "teh 0mgz0rz nvydia iz teh l33t r0xx0rz" - only ATI... Some mysteries of the universe won't be soon solved, it seems :(

Just because a card may have required two connectors doesn't mean it's going to run you a thousand dollars on your power bill :\
Or require more power than a similar ATI product

That site is a complete waste of time to read.

BTW, its outdated like the guys said. AND it was not much more than FUD to begin with anyway. As stated, that site is a waste of your time.

There is more chance of you still living with you mum than me because I moved out when I was 19 and I had finished paying for my own home by the time I was 25.

Not true at all - unfortunately there's fanboys on both sides.

Agreed, but most Nvidia fanboys can form a coherent sentence and explain why they like the product rather than that it's competition "sux" and that anyone who likes the competition 'still lives with their mother' (which btw does seem like a pretty cut & dried case of projection). Don't take me the wrong way, I'm not saying a word about the actual companies and their product (actually think they're nearly as similar as coke & pepsi), just about the people who swear by one or the other.

I don't understand how Nvidia can test a card extensively and rescind thier statement on how much power the card needs. It seems that if Nvidia is sure of thier product, they would stick to thier guns rather than apease a few review sites. I would rather go out and buy a PC Power & Cooling power supply for $200.00 and know my 6800Ultra will give me everything it has rather than use just one molex connector and have the rest of the power come from the motherboard which would drag down the rest of the system, give me artifacs (only in "certain" situations).

In one way it looks and sounds like Nvidia is trying to respond the thier customers wishes about the feedback on needing a new power supply or at least 480Watt.

On the other hand, it looks like Nvidia will say anything to see the card. I love the competition and plan on buying one.

This is my opinion. An opinion is like a A//hole, everyone has one.

You do realize that basically any card right now can run War Craft 3 in 1600X1200 at really high Framerates......................
