I've been reading the debates on these two companies and their drives, but i'm just wondering which drive will handle upping my fsb better, and which drive is better for games, ie. faster access times i think? not too sure on what i'm looking for really. Thanks a bunch.

Also, if someone could point me to a better deal then 140 for the maxtor, or 147 for the ibm, i'd be greatly appreciative.

Go with the IBM drive. Maxtors have a reputation for not being particularly co-operative at high PCI bus speeds.

I think that the older Maxtors where the ones with the problems at running with high PCI speeds. My older 8.4GB Maxtor wouldn't run at 37MHz PCI when I was overclocking my Celeron 300A to 504MHz. The newer ones should be fine.

Buy.com has the 30GB IBM for 157.00, but if you go to dealcatcher.com, you can get a 30.00 coupon for purchases over 150. That would bring the cost down to about 130.
