wow that is a pretty good price for the e6300, and that CPU is definitely a great performer, and probably worth the extra $30 over the 3800+ X2. great performance, low heat, tremendous overclocking.

Of the chips listed though, the 3800+ is the best one. performace is good, heat isn't too high, and overclocking is decent, so if you're worried about single threaded performance vs. the 4000+, you should easily be able to hit 2.4-2.5GHz or higher with it.

The Pentium D 820 sucks - performance is not very good and it eats up tons of power and spits out tons of heat - if you think about it, all that extra power will end up making the chip much more expensive in the long run.

The 915 is better, at least in terms of heat and power, but performance is still inferior to AMD's and especially Core 2 Duo.

that 6300 is OEM, then you need HSF, then $150 mobo. That at leat $100 more than the 3800 X2, and they are close on performance.

So I say the 3800 X2.
