beta testing

anybody here ever beta test software (gamse) and get paid for it? how is it? does it get really boring after awhile since its the same game over and over again for a long period of time?

I've read on multiple occasions that its hell and people would rather flip burgers. They work long hours, then are more or less worked to death the final weeks before release. It involves a lot of doing the same thing over and over with every single possible combination, clicking every pixel around buttons, and all sorts of garbage like that. Its not "play the game and report bugs."

hmm, ive never done it and gotten PAID, thats probably a lot harder than your average beta testing the game at home dealio.

Done it and been paid + free copy of game. It does get hellish for a while, retesting bugs found etc. Find if they are repeatable etc. In the end you sometimes find that you really don't want to play the game.

Thanks for the responses.

Incitatus, it's pays a lot better than flipping burgers.

notfred, no it's not for gamse.cx

fivespeed5, how do Sega people have it easy?

Snapster, so it's worth it?

ahhhhhhhhhh, i hope they give you a computer to install it on, never install that POS stuff on your computer, itll never be the same :Q

Well, if it's anything like test&val for corporate software, you'll hate it after a very short while. But if it pays well....

Depends on your "dullness threshold". How long can you do dull, repetitive tasks before going nutz?
