Trying to beserk a U.S. witchy event / thing from last year (was FHCHC). I don't see that there are any current d.c. conflicts soon to interfere with a scary week long challenge? Please let me know if you plan on gnawing on otherwise!

May start sometime this weekend and run through the dead of the dead of the night of nights? With a twist or two to keep those participants turning in the graves of TDP, TDC, CPU and or GPU or other Wraith curves?

What project or projects? Just wispering under my death.

Probably normal stat sites for updates. As the last whiskey tango did not do much besides lack of sleep...

Sweet blood to you all.

Well, after much heated debate on this sub-forum and unprecedented support! (Thanks! @lane42 !!!) the 2022 Beta-Pentagramathon Halloween Challenge is a GO! BPHC 2022!

This challenge will start 7 days before it finishes (daaaaaaaaa). Beginning sometime in the hour of the PACIFIC TIME zone 6 days before the end of the day and hour of the Dead End of the Eve of All Hallow's Day! Or when the next best starting time is to take stats from whatever statistical site is readily available for pre-made user stats.... :). If you can figure out when it starts, please p.m. me ;)

More to come around this time tomorrow (PST 5 p.m. from this post without edits..........) I need to make up the rules (Had to do actual work today, which I was not too happy about!). There also needs to be a twist or two in the race that probably should be thought through a bit or a bite (byte) or a nibble beforehand. Though I can't find my notes on upgraded "twists" from a year ago...

If you are interested in participating, please reply before the start of the challenge! All on the team or others on other teams are welcome to participate!

Being a "Beta" expect some of the same mayhem as the "Alpha" from last year, but hopefully only "new" errors will be made!

I have been consulting a local cabal of wiccan (wicci ?, wiki?, wiccanian?), and after recovering from the vehicle parking violation (if the sign says, "No parking, all violators will be TOAD", believe it :) ) , I asked a few D.C challenge questions speaking in a frog like tongue.... After asking about how this event should or should not unfold their caldron emitted a few suggestions. Though it is an older model caldron from an older refined metallurgy (1.5e+7 nanometer....), so the Pentagrammic FLAPH (Floating-point Apparitions Per Hour) really hurt the wiccan per flame unit... WiFU.

Anyway...

More tomorrow.

Howdy again and sorry I am late.

Keeping this short as I have come down with a cold and feeling crummy. Crawling out of bed is hard at the moment.

Anyone have a problem with Yoyo@home for this friendly challenge?

I have never ran it, but it looks like it has enough work and is keeping up with results.

Not many on Team Anand are running it currently, so a week of additional boost will help the Team out.

If no issues with this project being chosen, I will pull stats from the yoyo@home website for the TeAm starting at noon tomorrow, Pacific Standard Time. The contest will run through midnight Oct. 31st Pacific Standard Time.

I still have not come up with decent twists yet as this head based crud has really slowed me down. So stay tuned. I will track everyone participating for TeAm Anand, so only need to tell me you are participating for another team. Would need your Boinc name and team name for tracking stats I guess.

Those that choose not to participate will be Tricked or something.... bla, bla, zzzzzzz.

What in the HE double hockey sticks?

TeAm Anand is going to be overtaken soon in F@H?

I smell a twister that should fend off this smelly mister of a Frankfurter?

I need more cold meds...

Maybe if we do a challenge now using F@H that won't happen. And maybe if I wasn't the only one going over 20m ppd on the team, this would not happen at all. I am maxed at 75m ppd.

I'm all in running Yoyo Siever tasks.
Are the Siever tasks the highest points per work or something? I have not looked into this project.

Anyway, I grabbed updated stats, but need to wait until this evening after work to post an update on the challenge.

Running out a load of other stuff. I'll be in tomorrow.
Kinda like prepping for a colonoscopy, clean out the old, take quicklook, then reload new.

Sorry, I know that is a "top of the mind" nail-biter for all of you, but the next update will be tomorrow, hopefully around Noon PST. I should have more less stressful time then!

Life work and D.C. balance and all!

I need a bit of downtime...

Keep on crunching!

Edit a few minutes later :). I appreciate this challenge project title / tag line. Look it up. YOLO. appropriate for this human still recovering from a cold virus.... Hopefully :)

2nd Edit. I don't know who or how, but maybe this project is going to empty out of tasks soon.. Might just be a justification for a "twist"???? HAHA....

The Team's collective "colonoscopy" may take down this small D.C. project server. Not intended, but insightful. But I really do hope we don't see the "Colonoscope" tapes...

Stats update from almost 7 hours ago. I'm still getting over a cold and running on about 50%.

Also, without entering all of this into a database, it is much more work even with the few team members participating to pull stats from the project, rather than an excellent stat site like Free-DC or other that does most of the work already!!!

I hope that these stats taken from the project itself are correct and that I have calculated them correctly. This is much harder that from a stat aggregate site....

Note that this is not yet sorted by most output or any "Twists". I was hoping this year we could discuss "twists", but I don't have the energy for it yet!

Goals for twists. #1, Twists should strive to encourage more output from the participants!

Keep on crunching.

OOF, something is up with the credit given for these sieving tasks. Credit seems all over the place. Ive seen some users get 1000 points per unit for a task while some of my systems only claiming ~75 points. I thought these WU were all similar in size. Anyone have any insights?

Probably, your wingman forgot to run the BOINC cpu benchmark. Note that if both rigs are validating each other task and both rigs have higher "measured floating point speed", the credit granted will be higher. If the wingman didn't run the cpu benchmark for the rig, I think the default floating point speed is revert to 1000 million ops/sec, resulting in lower average credit granted for both. That's what I think is happening.

If you have AMD cards, IIRC the M-queens tasks give higher PPD. Haven't run for sometime but I think VII back then gave the best PPD. Not sure if the current M-queens code supports RDNA series.

Yes, all my low granted credit workunits, my wingman has a floating point and
integer of 1000 million ops/sec.

Wondering why someone would disable running the cpu benchmark in boinc manager unless one is firing up multi-instances where you don't want many instances to run cpu benchmark, for e.g. back in the days when running goofyxgrid and now ithena measurements. By default if you first installed BM, it will run cpu benchmark for the first time.

I just checked my hosts and none of them seem to be generating low credit, thank goodness. I do have to run the benchmark prior to changing my cc_config.xml, after which CPU benchmarks are not run. It is possible for one to accidentally replace the cc_config before benchmarks are run, which might lead to them never being run at all.

This thang is still on!

Here is a short update. I missed getting stats at Noon time locally, so copied what I could around 6 p.m. my time. Still not sorted by leader board. Number before screen name is still from day 2 of challenge.

All will be better updated tomorrow. Been a long week of trying to work and sickness....

I'm getting better, but energy is still low. I think my "attempt at funny bone" is starting to recharge... :)

I guess that those on the "chart" with a big zero.... This is a call out? :)

Update!

No major twist yet. Sorry all. I think we do need to discuss challenge / gaming "twists" but maybe another time. Had more energy today then went on a long walk and am now wiped out...

Sorted by running total points this time and lopped off the heads of those not participating :) Semi-scary... Though the cut and paste from Google sheets lost my scary red border... Just now saw that I spelled "Running" wrong in the last post. Long week...

Though I did buy a cheap "fog" machine and fancy fog juice to try and scare a few kids on Monday. I don't recommend testing indoors as I have learned. Even the inexpensive fog machines can spit out a lot of fog in short order!!!! I do know that my smoke detectors now all work still

Notes from this challenge so far. Looks like "Q-tip" has new hardware or is dropping some bunkers :), and emoga may be bunkering for a last day run for 2nd, 3rd, or 4th? waffleironhead may be shifting to other projects or bunkering also. Everyone seems to "like the dark" around Halloween :)?

Illness hits me harder as I age. I got Covid a little over a year ago and while I do not claim to have the long version, I do not think I am quite the same as before, either. So I can sympathize with lack of energy for sure. Thanks for the stats!
