Question 1: where to get the 6.6 series?

Question 2: does it make a huge difference in performance?

1: Search
Or type in 66.81 or whatever.

2: For me it made a noticeable difference and cleared up some graphical glitches I had in 3DMark05.

Will it clear up a 4000 on 3DMark05? :( I'm using the 61 drivers on nVidia's website. There's no reason I'm not getting 5000 with a configuration like this:

Athlon 64 3200+
1 GB RAM
6800 GT overclocked to 400/1100
Fresh install of Windows XP Pro

Any particular reason? Has this been discussed? It would seem to me that a 20% difference in performance is major for just drivers.

The 61.77 drivers are pretty darn old and 3dmark05 is pretty darn new. The drivers just wern't optimized for it. Trust me. just about everyone I see with the 61.77's score around 4000-4300 while with anything highier they get 4700-5500 or so.

Odd that nVidia hasn't updated their own site yet. I usually try to go with the "official" ones, as I run into less hardware issues, but 20% is a kick in teeth. I'll try them.

its pretty obvious....

nv released these (66.81) drivers just after 3dm05 was released, but they never made them official.
they are a great driver set tho :)

if you are new to nVidia here's some advice:
never fear beta drivers. in most cases they are better then the official drivers.

66.81 drivers are currently THE driver to use.

HTH :)
