BestBuy selling SB X-FI Platinum for $124

I posted this in Hot Deals but will also post here in case someone is looking:

Just came back from BestBuy and they are selling the SB X-FI Platinum edition for $124. Cheaper than the Xtreme music version! I asked the clerk and he said that SB is discontinuing the X-FI Platinum and they will not be getting anymore. So if you can find one, grab it!

Also, no rebate like Newegg is having!

Hmm, I just went to BestBuy's website, and they have the X-Fi Extreme for 72.99 and the X-Fi ExtremeGamer for 104.99, but no mention of the Platinum. I guess that what you found was a local sale. In any case, the prices look cheaper than I would expect for any of the models. But since I have an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum now, I guess that I'll stick with it.

I think there is a potential issue with EAX not working because of changes in DirectSound in DX10? Something to do with OpenAL (hopefully). I would love to see Creative Crap Labs get screwed over.

I expect that Creative will roll with the punch quite easily. All they have to do is to make new models of cards. The ones that do get screwed is the people who have perfectly good Audigy or X-Fi cards, and don't want to pay for another to run Vista. It is for reasons such as this, that I just bought a copy of XP MCE.
