<< They're probably Taiyo Yudens, so $5 for 50 is a quite a toasty deal indeed. Thanks. (I'm still burned by the 200 damn TDK Riteks I mistakenly bought from Target ) >>
Ok, this is a bit off topic, but what is the big deal about who made the CD-R's? Is there a big difference in speed or defects? Regardless of who makes these Fuji, I am there! >>
Here is the CD-R id on the Fujis.
ATIP: 97m 24s 01f
Disc Manufacturer: Taiyo Yuden Company Ltd.
Reflective layer: Dye (Long strategy; e.g. Cyanine, Azo etc.)
Media type: CD-Recordable
Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown
nominal Capacity: 702.83MB (79m 59s 73f / LBA: 359848)
When buying CD-R's look for Made in Japan.
And it does make a difference. Some brands burn better and faster with less errors than others. There are some comparisons out there somewhere and TY's are the best. >>
Also, with the long strategy dye, if you're going for archival purposes, they last longer than the short strategy ones. Pretty much any CD-R with long strategy is good. Maxell, Verbatim and Fuji are the ones I currently know of that use long strategy.
