Best wired keyboard?

I noticed that my keyboards numeric pad stopped working.. Time for a new one - any suggestions? I hate wireless keyboards (always forget to charge the batteries) and would love something ergonomic (split key if possible) and pretty tough.. Split key isn't a must though I just need something that'll take a beating (no need for a million windows buttons)..

Darwin is the best, but the factory in China or whever is having problems. I have been on the waiting list for 6 months. I broke the one I had by spilling juice in it.

I have a black logitech "elite"

I like the keys, they're nice and soft. Has a ton of buttons that I don't really use, but its nice knowing I have the option there.

I got sick of clicky keyboards. I used to love them but typing with that at night gives me a headache.

BTW, they still make them here.

Amen, brother!

Every time I see a box of keyboards, I just have to dig through them to find any IBM clickey keyboards that might be in there.

Wonderful keyboards. And built like a tank!

Microsoft Internet Keyboard Pro (non-ergo). I can't LIVE without the USB ports on it. They should make all keyboards with USB port on them.

I like the old IBM clicky keys but NEED the windows keys (oddly enough, you can't use a mac without them!). I have a pc and a mac so USB support is pretty essential too - any modern keyboard simliar to the old IBMs?

I still like thsoe older Dell keyboards (the clicky ones). Mine broke and the only place I could find them is on ebay. Needless to say, I made sure this time I have some backups. 😀

Get an Omnikey Evolution and a PS/2/USB adapter. QED.

Butter, silk, velvet; these are the words that come to mind when typing with this keyboard. WHY HAVE WE SUFFERED FOR SO LONG? Almost every other Natural, ergonomic, or other completely misnomered keyboard has the left leaned keys you have to twist the wrist to catch. Not this baby! If you were to put your fingers in a comfortable position and then paint a new keyboard with easing strokes of your hand, this is what you would end up with. It's almost as if microsoft and the plethera of HMO's are in bed together to make money from purposely maldesigned keyboards. Trust this one thing, your fingers and wrists will never stop saying thank you!

Yes, very nice, *but* the engineers made a very, very, very stupid decision. The F-Keys don't default to being F-Keys. They default to being media keys. If they fix that it will be perfect.

Get an 8-year old PGA Unikey KB-5326. No win keys, no needless thingies. 102 buttons, 3 LEDs. AT version. I love mine.

If you like a click tactile feel, try to find a Focus 2001 keyboard. I'm a pianist and a touch typist, and I love this keyboard. Unfortunately, I don't see them in many stores, anymore.

Thanks for the inspiration to e-mail the company to ask them where I can still find it in the L.A. area. 🙂

MS Natural Keyboard Elite. This one is special because the arrow keys are smaller than on the normal Natural keyboard. I like this setup because I've always gamed on this KB, and could never use anything else anymore after getting used to it.

ms internet keyboard has worked for me. but keyboards aren't that expensive are they? it's not really a big deal to replace them...

IBM Model M... it has withstood the test of time, it's the best
only POSSIBLE gripes:
too clicky.. wakes up my roommates at school when they sleep..
no windows key.. not a prob for me, i hate them.. esp. when you're playing cs and you accidentally press it..

Me too. They're great keyboards. I also like old Mac keyboards. They had an excellent feel that was right between the clicky and membrane boards. I'm not sure if you can use them on PCs though... can you? Forget about the ones that came with the imac or G4, they're awful.
