hotmail has integration with outlook for free. but sucks.

yahoo you can get it, but it'd cost ya, hence not free.

if you have SBC Yahoo DSL you can link your accounts and get free pop access/ forwarding.

if you're moving from one computer to the other all the time and need to hang onto your emails = IMAP
If you'll be using your account from one or two comps and that's it = POP3
