Best way to transport a couple humongous desktop PC's?

Moving soon and I have a couple monster PC's I need to take with me. Wondering if I should have to remove megahalems heatsinks or gpu's before moving? Or would it be okay to just lay them on their sides with plenty of padding and keeping the megahalems in place along with gpu?

I would remove the heat sinks and let the rest ride well padded.

Yeah that makes sense. Gpu's have a low center of gravity unlike the megahalems. Thanks

I always remove large/heavy heatsinks and GPUs when transporting PCs.

Remember that movers reposition boxes, etc., in the vans to get good, tight fits - laying flat may not always remain so. (Veteran of 23 long distance moves!)

Done it both ways and a lot depends on distance, what it's riding in, etc.

I've transported with huge tower coolers left on and haven't had problems....lay pc flat so the cooler is upgright. It'll live.....hangs off the motherboard well enough, doesn't it?

Of course, if what you're transporting in is a buckboard, then remove it.

As Meghan54 says, a lot depends on the move. The best is a door-to-door. That reduces the chance of loss or damage to everything, not just your computer.

If it involves temporary storage, a whole set of problems can bubble up. Another extreme is an overseas move. Those get placed into Sea-Land type containers and sometimes strange things happen.

Here's a little moving secret - if you pack the item, the mover's inventory says "PBO." That means "Packed by Owner," and their responsibility for damage goes way down.

Thanks. I am the mover in this case. Gonna set the PC's on their side in my wife's Honda trunk with plenty of padding(comforters, sheets, etc..) and make sure they aren't going to move. I'll probably end up driving the car too just to make sure to not hit any big bumps. Lol
