vaseline or neosporin.

vaseline stops bleeding from small cuts like shaving gives. neosporin is just vaseline with antibiotics. plus it keeps the blood from drying in a big brown spot.

ETA - No idea why the link looks like that but it works fine.

that brings up all pet-related websites :Q
Animals bleed too. :(

You can buy the sticks at your local pharmacy or drugstore.

ETA - Basically it's just salt. You can do the same thing by making a paste of salt and water.

Not that I've heard of.

sting a little but have never left a mark on me. Works great

Good. I used rubbing alchohol once to stop persistant facial bleeding, but the next day I had a redish irritation mark the about the size of the cotton ball I used. I've never used it since, but have had shaving cuts.

We use styptic powder when we cut our dogs nails because if we cut too much off the quick bleeds like crazy. When you've got a hurt puppy you tend to want to stop the bleeding as quickly as possible since they really start to struggle.

A used teabag?

I don't know if it works for people, but it will help animals stop bleeding (i.e. when you trim your dog's claws too short). It's a tip I got from a dog trainer.

The stick in the second link is more typical for shaving cuts. You will be able to find a cheap one at Walgreens or other pharmacy type place.

The alum block is typically not used for actual cuts, it is more for post-shave skin conditioning (antiseptic / pore closing).
