Hey, I got married and it was hella-expensive so now we want to sell the wedding dress and get some $ back. Does anyone have any input on this subject? Of course there is always ebay, but that is my last option.

I looked around online but didnt really find much

thanks

And your wife is really fully on-board with this? Are you sure?
It seems like something that might come back to haunt you in a decade or so...

What's the resale value like on a used wedding dress?

i believe it sold for something like $150. I don't believe she paid anymore than 400 for it.

I was proud of my wife for getting hers at David's Bridal for a reasonable price.

haha yes she is ok with it. We need the money. She paid something like $1,200 for it and hopes to get at least $500 back. I know that 500 is probably too high, but whatever....

haha, sell it here... thats a good idea

thanks for the input everyone

I don't know, this is the internets remember? I'm sure you'll find a few guys here who would love to wear it.

Sell it on ebay with a story about your old lady running off with some circus clowns and the proccedes from the sale of the dress are to pay for the airfare of your new mail order bride.

Depends on the type and location of the stains -- cake, champagne, semen -- you know, the usual.

1. ebay. don't expect a lot for it though... but at least you're being reasonable in not expecting to get half back
2. wedding websites - try the knot. one of my favorite websites is weddingbee and they have a "for sale" board.
3. craiglist.

whatever you choose:
1. include a picture of her wearing it that day if possible
2. include the size it was purchased at, and how it was altered
3. mention if you will include the veil.
4. include how dirty it is, if it has not been cleaned (i.e. if it has grass stains, footprints, etc.)

Clearly you do not understand women.

She has said that she is okay with it. But she is not. You are supposed to know this, and be sensitive to her needs and not sell the dress. It does not matter that she says she is okay with it.

In fact, if she says she is "okay" with anything - take that as a warning that if it's something you do think would bother her - it is - and you will pay for it later in some way.

You must have a cheap set of family/friends if you didn't receive enough money stuffed envelopes to cover the wedding plus some.

Freesia39: Thanks a lot for that, it will definitely help!

OdiN: No she didnt want to at first and then I said that was okay but then she processed it for a while and came back to me and said that she decided that it would be good to sell it. She is sentimental, but not too sentimental, and she is practical, not an idiot. We are both still in college and we need the money even if its a few hundred. That is rent and food money. But I do understand where you are coming from.. lol
