Best way to remove tinting from windows? *My SOLUTION*

I recently bought a car (light truck actually) and the front windows have an adhesive tinted sheet stuck to them. Tinted windows in the state are illegal, and I don't like them anyways. I can peel small sections off, but then the windows are really sticky. I was thinking just a warm soap water solution might help remove the tinting as well as the stickyness.

any secret hints otherwise?

What I Did: I tried two different suggestions. On one window, I heated up the tinting and managed to peel off most of it in one try, saving only a few spots for a straight razor. The rubbing alcohol worked, but was rather time consuming.

On the other window, I used a large, heavy rock. It removed the tinting, and most of the window. It was very quick, but left glass slivers in my butt.

Thanks for the ideas.

Try a hairdryer to warm it up just enough where it will peel off easily, taking the glue with it.

I would try the hair dryer trick. There will probably be glue left over, then use pure rubbing alcohol to get it off, or strong stuff if you need too.

Look at your local Wal-mart / K-mart for a bottle of that removal stuff. You'll find it where they have the window tinting. I used that and a razor blade and it wasn't that bad. Was messy, but it really does work and windows came out spotless without much effort. Hope it helps.

if you have a hard time, you can always call a tint shop and ask them.

i had to get tint removed from my windows, to rectify a traffic ticket, and they did it for like $20.
