I heard using Acetone(?) is a good way, however won't this interfere and short the processor SMD's? I don't know... need help.

Remember to let the chip dry thoroughly, yesterday my friends Bird 800 wouldn't work and it turned out, that it wasn't dry enough. I thought i had killed it, hehe.

Peace,
Nore

PS: Let it dry for about 15-30 minutes

Crap, isn't this going just a little far?
Grab some Kleenex, and wipe away.
I've done this with many chips and it's always been fine. There will be NO static. It's not like your walking around on a carpet with wool socks, and wiping with a wool towel, while shorting the thing against the fridge....

Little (isopropyl) alcohol pads, from your drugstore, doctor's office, or hospital, or a bit of rubbing alcohol on a paper towel, work just fine.

The only thing that I found will remove artic silver is engine degreaser, its about a dollar for a can and works great. I've done this to 3 cpus, no problems, I usually spray it on the top, wipe with a towel, and finish it off with isopropyl alcohol, heck one time I just soaked it in the degreaser and alcohol and let it dried it with compressed air and it still worked.

I purchased an A7V and T-Bird 900 from Monarch Computers. The Tai-sol CEK733092 heatsink/fan is already mounted on the chip which is mounted on the Mobo which is connected to the thigh bone, which is connected to the hip bone (well...you get the idea). I haven't attempted to remove the fan yet (going to o'clock the bird). Should I expect the fan to be epoxied to the chip? If it is, I guess I can use the methods above? What do you think? By the way, how good is this fan for cooling? Would it be sufficient?
Thanks:confused:

After years of testing with different chemical composition. I finally come up with the best Thermal Compound Solution. All you have to do is :

HCO2 (5.0mg) + H3O (3.5mg) + NOH4 (0.07mg) bring all these to 80F degrees. Then add Distilled H2O (5.0mg)

Apply a small amount on a Q-tip to remove the Thermal Compound.
WARNING: This chemical (TC-Off) hasn't been fully tested, use at your own risk.

Doesn't rubbing alcohol mix with water and also attract it. Whats wrong with any good solvent?
