Best way to remove excess grout left on top of tiles for months?

My wife and I tried tiling our room ourselves and we left a lot of excess grout on the top of the tiles and have been putting off doing anything for a while. I bought some heavy duty grout remover cleanser at home depot and even if I don't dilute it it doesn't really dissolve the grout and make it easy to scrape off like im hoping. Any ideas or suggestions?

The best way (unless the grout is very thick), is to use Blue SCOTCH-BRITE.
Make sure you buy the blue, for the green will scratch tile. The surface of the tile should be fairly easy to clean with the blue!

Try vinegar first with a scoure pad made for non-stick. The acid will weaken it up so that should help, but will need a lot of elbow grease.

Try Marlins method. When you say excess how much excess are we talking? Vinegar will get rid of the chaulky appearance and light glaze.

Wiping with mild acid only get rid of the haze on top of tiles and may clean a tiny amount of excess grout within the first 48 hours. Cured grout require more brute method such as dremel/grinder or grout saw and then re grout.
