Do you have a pdf reader? If not you can find a free one at adobe.com. I personally use foxit reader and there are others as well.

There are many applications that will act as a print driver and generate a PDF file if that is what you are asking.

Every year I buy H&R Block tax software. When installed, it includes PDF995. I found out that its use is not restricted to just the tax software. PDF995 installs as a printer. So if I were to create a pdf file from a webpage or even an open document on my laptop, I simply choose PDF995 among the printer names, then choose the file name and directory path. I believe you can find PDF995 for free on many sites that distribute software.

Generically, one must have software that installs PDF creation as a printer. Then all you have do to is select that as your printer when you print.

There are several valid choices above that will install PDF creation as a printer. I happen to have two, one by Nitro and other by Scansoft.

Been using PrimoPDF for years; installs as a printer.

I believe Windows 10 now natively supports .pdf creation. Just saying - not advocating Windows 10. D:

If your using Windows 10 already, it comes with Microsoft Print to PDF printer driver. Which works fine for me. If you don't have Win10, go to Devices and Printers - Click on Add printer - The printer that i want isn't listed - Choose Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings - Then drop down the drop down list from the Use and existing port: and choose File: (Print to File) and now select one of the printer drives that you already have installed on your computer and finish off the rest of the settings.

Many applications can save to PDF, like MS Word and Excel. For a generic print driver type of PDF publisher, which I would be lost without (burn in hell Adobe):

PDFredirect works well, is free, but crashes a lot.

PDFfactory works great, but its not free.

Since my scanner is on an XP machine (no software upgrade) I still use Word Perfect there (XP machine is not on my intranet.).

For the rare occasion I need to print to PDF to send something via email where other things get blocked (excel for instance) I'll now go through less conniptions. Thanks.
