Man, I'm scared..
I think I need to practice to put this monsterously big HSF on CPU before I actaully do it.
I heard lots and lots of people cracking the core of CPU, but i just can't afford to do it!
Or even scratching the motherboard..
Would It be alright if I just practice mounting HSF to the Socket without CPU?
Also
Is there the right side to put it on?

I wouldn't practice on the socket.. you can damage traces on the board like that too.

I would just do it, but do it slowly. I usually stick a screwdriver in between the fan blades and down on the clip.. this way, the chances of slipping off and damaging the mobo are almost nill. unless you go at some crazy angle. Try it like that, and push down on the clip there, and use your finger to secure the clip once it's pushed down far enough. Just don't rock the heatsink when you are doing this. Good luck.

When you get the results.. temp and so on.. PM me. I am curious.

here's straight from AMD step by step instructions.

Don't freak out, it's really not that bad, and those cores can handle a lot more pressure than you think...plus, those 4 pads help keep pressure off the cpu.

Just follow the guide, and use a flat head screwdriver, you'll be fine.

heh dont be scared. the motherboards can take a LOT of punishment. I Know from experience almost everytime i take off a hsf i end up knicking the motherboard with the screwdriver several times never any problems.

Taylorm: you're crazy. I did that once and I had to go to church to pray before booting.

I didn't really go to church.. religion is evil.

I felt like you before I did my first one on Thursday. All I did, was align the hsf on the 4 pads over the core, make sure the clips lined up, then did it, took about 10 seconds, got it on my first try using a screwdriver to put it down. I let it sit on the 4 pads, and aligned it to take my time.
