Best way to make sure a sub isn't stolen?

My sub/amp was stolen from the trunk of my car last time and I'm trying to figure out a way not to have the same thing happen again.. It was one of those all in one units (sub/amp in one box) so the thieves just snipped a wire an walked away with it.. I figure that I'll get an oldschool box and then some subs - are they harder to steal? Also, is there a safe, reversible way to disable the front seat trunk release (I don't mind having to use my keys).. The punks smashed my back window, unlocked all the doors and then just popped the trunk release.. Grrrrr.. SOrry..
thanks!
p.s. my car is a 2002 hyundai elantra

Tried that.. fvcker died on me.. I think I should have put air holes in the trunk.. I left him some water but it got so hot in there that it evaporates..Jose will be missed by his friends and family, but I need a more.. Cost effective.. method (midgets are expensive)

If you smash it with a hammer, it becomes less attractive to would-be thieves.

Not true.. My car got broken into a week after a terrible accident (no one got hurt but some chick smashed into the side of the car).. My car looked like sh1t but they still broke into it..

Can you bolt the sub into the floor of the trunk or something?

yes you can bolt them right to the frame

I'll be getting it bolted in.. I'll see if they can bolt/hide the sub too.. Do you know if those all-in-one sub/amps can be bolted down too? I may go for an Infinity Basslink.

I'd recommend what TheEvil1 suggested. Also think about investing in an alarm for your car too.

I dont know hoe different ones are specifically attached im guessing it depends on your box. mine bold from teh inside so do my roomates. a friend of mine has a 1/4in steel band that goes around his box that boltsin front and back

also get a car alarm.

Cool.. it shall be bolted.. I do have an alarm.. People in NYC ignore them now so the crook was able to break into the car in the afternoon..

and just to ensure that they do as much damage as possible, strip out the bolts. If someone wants your stuff, they will get it. Screwing things down just makes it worse. I even leave the keys to my deck in plain sight just to make sure they wont mess up my dash

Plastic explosives in the sub.... extra wires..... Go ahead, cut the wrong wire!

Or, put a sign there that says "warning, bomb in sub... cutting the wrong wire will lead to detination"
Of course, no one would believe you... but how could they hold you liable? They broke into your car and ignored a clearly posted warning. 🙂

If you're incredibly lucky there might be a seperate fuse for the trunk release. If not, you can always dig around in your trunk to find the release mechanism and disconnect the power to it from there.

Thats probably yer best bet. Make it hard to steal.

I am telling you...this is a bad idea...I did car audio for 3 years...doing things like this just ensures your car will be trashed
