Best way to make protein drinks?

Czar

Lifer
I'm going to buy some whey protein soon but I dont have many ideas on how to "make" them. I tried some few days ago at a friends house, basicly a back of protein powder, some ice cubes and water all put into the blender. Frankly that tasted awful even though she loves it.

How do the atot fitness people do this? 🙂

I drink Grow! Protien from Biotest. It's unlike any other protien because it actually tastes great. ive been drinking vanilla for like 3 years and have not gotten tired of it.

Try mixing it in a blender with a banana, adding it to oatmeal, or with milk. Either way grow rocks!

Edit: please don't go to GNC and ask for advice... they usually suck and don't know what theyre talking about, and will prolly try to sell you their crappy protien.. ugh.. Designer Whey... so glad i stopped drinkin that garbage

What brand whey did you try? Some of the brands taste like crap.. and some taste... well.. delicious

Other options along with the whey are to add one of the following as I do, to vary the taste; either a banana, some whole grain oats, or peanut butter..

maybe some splenda, if you want to negate the bland taste..

What is your goal of these protein drinks? Just as a snack or after a workout?

For a snack, my favorite is milk, ice cubes, banana, bit of peanut butter, and the whey protein powder. Yummy smoothy.

After a workout, you wouldn't want the peanut butter in there as it will slow digestion. The rest would be ok though, although not what the "die hard" lifters would probably recommend. They'd say water, whey, and dextrose or water, whey, and oatmeal ground up.

My goal for the protein shakes is for protein supplementation, along with my 3-4 real meals a day.
After a workout, I usually use a banana or something similiar (do not currently have any dextrose)... at night.. its just plain water.. in the morning, prior to lunch.. its with skim milk

I used to blend frozen strawberries, milk, 1 serving of egg beaters, 1 banana, and ice cubes. It tasted good and had a decent amount of protein. Got it from a Men's Health article.

Just do it the rocky way...
3 raw eggs in a glass...
GULP.

I use two scoops in a blender then add skim milk. Hit liquify for like 10 seconds. And its ready to drink. I use chocolate flavor btw.

I have a shaker I use to mix it with water, then I chug it as fast as possible.

I don't really like the taste, but its a necessary evil for gaining mass.

What I tried was some version of EAS Myoplex, chocholade version.
I'm used to buying sometimes Protein Plus after workout, not exactly sure what it is other than its in brown bottles, loooove that stuff 🙂

What I'm thinking of buying myself is EAS Simply Protein Complete Whey, but if its anything like the myoplex then I think I'll skip it

if money isnt an issue i'd recommend buying a case of the isopure pre-bottled protein drinks. They are by far the best tasting 100% protein drink I've ever had. But they are about doubl eth ecost of the myoplex or the big jugs of not-so-pure and not-so-tasty alternatives. But other than that mixing with milk in a blender improves the taste significantly from any varieties that i've experienced.

1) Buy protein shake powder
2) Add water or milk as per the directions on the back of the tin
3) Stir
4) Drink
5) Admire your suddenly ripped, comicly muscular body comparable only to popeye or the hulk.
6) Post pics on ATOT so we can mock you.

doesnt sound like a bad idea, I'd rather do something I enjoy than something I hate 🙂
Even been thinkinf of buying just lots of protein plus drinks at wholesale if I can get them, not sure if I can get isopure here

If you go for a blend product it's going to inevitably taste better, but there's a lot of fats/carbs in those.

If you want something with no fats/carbs, you need to go with an isolate. Stay the hell away from IsoWhey. I'd reccomend taking a look at allthewhey (allthewhey.com, sorry for the lack of links, I'm using quick reply!)

I'd reccomend trying ATW's sampler pack. I personally love their orange flavor. I mix it with 8oz of ice cold water. It's not the greatest tastest thing in the world, but keep in mind that it's an isolate and not a blend. In terms of isolates, AllTheWhey is definitely the best from my experience.

I ordered the varity pack from isopure... just for the hell of it, odd that they dont tell me the shipping cost right away, just "Calculated at ship time"

Raw eggs have very little nutritional value. So that's nonsense.

A real man uses a spoon, a glass, water, and his powder. Gulp it up clumps and all.

Hands down, the best tasting protein I've tried is Muscle Milk. You can get it at GNC in powder or ready-to-drink forms.

With the powder, just toss it into a blender with some skim milk, ice, and blend. Add a banana if you want (depending on the flavor).

If you want just pure 100% whey protein, try Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey.
