What's the best way to learn? I've been trying a little bit on my own but it takes forever to find the stuff i need. Maybe a book or something? Or a site?

Well, depending on cost. Go look at sites like 3D Spline or
3D Cafe

Both sites have tutorials and links to other sites. There's many more but they're easy to find so I won't list em all.

If you're going for a book, then I'd recommend one that comes with a CD with textures/models/etc and will at least step you through a basic scene. If you're looking for animation then there are books that will step you through an animation (which is why books with CDs are much more useful).

Unfortunately I can't recommend any books as I am not a heavy Max user (Softimage all the way :p) and I've kept myself up to date since 2.5 anyway.
