Have 2 HDD's, 20GB and 80GB, and 1 32xCDR and 1 32x CDRW.

Not sure if it'd be better to do

Master - 20GB
Slave - 80GB (Drive just being used for backups)

Master - CDr 32x
Slave - CDRW 32x

OR

Master -20GB
Slave - 32x CDR

Master 80GB
Slave - CDRW 32x

Or

Some other combo?

Basically, the 80GB drive is going to be used to store backup of data from a few systems but might be used to burn CDR's from as well. Probably will not be a LOT of copying from 20GB <-> 80GB.

Any thoughts/comments?

I've got my hd's setup on the Primary bus, and on the Secondary bus I've got my CD-RW as master and Cd-Rom as slave. This ensures faster burning to your cd-rw.

You might want to check the specs on the hard drives to make sure you aren't missing an opportunity to improve system performance by using the 80GB drive as the primary master boot drive.

dman6666, if your 80GB HD has equal or better specs than your 20GB drive, I would hook up your system this way:

IDE1-Master- 80GBHD
IDE1-Slave- 20GBHD

IDE2-Master-CD 32x
IDE2-Slave-CDRW 32x

Hope this helps :)

Ended up following the cdrecorder manual and put drives on primary channel and cdrw as master, cdr as slave on secondary.

The 80GB is probably a bit faster than the 20gb (both 7200) but I'm using the 80GB as data storage for this and other systems.

Thanks for the responses.
