Hello,

I have just got a 160gb maxtor 8mb 7200rpm and i have 3 other 60gb drives. My board currently doesnt support the large lba support and i needed more room so i bought a controller card. My question is should i just hook all the drives up to the controller. Or put two on the controller and one with each of my cdroms. Or just do what i was thinking that was to put all drives on the controller and have the cdroms each on their seperate channel.

Let me know.

I'd put the OS and swap file HD on its own channel.
Beyond that, it won't make a difference.

Assuming all the drives are capable of UATA/UDMA operation, I would put each of the HDs on its own channel and put the CDs where they are most likely to be on a different channel from the software that will be accessing them. Any that can't do UDMA need to be on their own channel.
