Vacuum a couple times and use a spray... if after a couple days they're still around then try the fogger.
Vacuuming will probably do the most good.

Do you have any pets? Use Revolution on them for 2 months and the fleas will be long gone.

If you have no pets, the fleas won't have anywhere to lay their eggs or eat (unless maybe you never shower) and should die off soon.

no pets. it was from the previous tenant even though no pets are allowed. it was vacant for 2 months before i moved in. already vaccumed the whole place. still found like 7-8 fleas (im sure there's more around since those were just in the bathroom cuz it has a white floor so it's very easy to spot them).

is revolution like advantage?

thanks all. will vaccum a few more times and spray the carpet.

Vacant for 2 months and you still had fleas in there? Hmm... you might want to look for signs of rats or mice... or some other furry animals. I really doubt fleas would be alive for 2 months without a food source... unless they just starved and reproduced non stop.

Yep, revolution is just like Advantage (I think). My cats picked up fleas at my last apartment because we lived by the woods. Even though they never got outside, they were constantly by the patio screen door and the fleas probably hopped through easily. The Revolution stuff is like 5 drops on the back of their neck, one time a month. After 2-3 days there was already no sign of the fleas. I was most impressed!

just checking out flea sprays. off of raids website

Where environmental conditions are not ideal, this life cycle can span over five months.

wonder if that means even when there's nothign to live off of. at least for the adults. it says that the babies feed off of dried feces of dead adult fleas.

billgates: yeah, that stuff is great. my ex-gf used advantage (also applied to the back of the neck) on her cats.. well worth the $8-9 paid a month to be flea free. alot easier than bathes and collars.

Flea bomb. Go to Lowes grab you a couple, set them off, go watch a movie.

Repeat in 1-2 weeks

I think a fogger is the best plan of action.

My dogs got fleas from the groomer once.

The fogger worked great for me.

I now use frontline on the pups.
and have not had any more problems.

Try this for about 2-3 weeks: At night, place a light over a pan or shallow bowl of soapy water. The soap breaks the surface tension of the water and the fleas drown as they jump towards the light over the pan.(Insert Poltergeist joke here) It needs a few weeks to break the cycle of fleas , but it worked wonders for me when I did it.

Peace

I sprayed using Raid Flea Killer Plus, let it dry, vaccumed the rug very thoroughly, sprayed it again after an hour, then vaccumed it. Depending on how thick your carpet is you may have to spray a thick coating of the killer in order to get deep in the carpet to kill the fleas and eggs. I finally got rid of all those little blood sucking bastards.

1. Pour gasoline all over floor. Make sure you cover ENTIRE floor in every room.
2. If you have a gas oven, open door and turn on (blow out pilot light first)
3. Stand near open door
4. Light match
5. RUN!!!

Until the introduction of Advantage, having fleas was a terrible experience.

Now, you just treat the pet, and the fleas are all gone in a matter of a week or two. It's great. No more trying to treat the whole house.

But you don't have a pet. :(

Adults can go into hibernation mode when there is no food around. Best way to get rid of fleas is by vacuming, and spraying down the carpet over and over again. I sprayed once a week for a month with some liquid flea spray. I litterally soaked the carpet until it was pretty damp, and then left the house for a few hours to let it dry. I didn't see another flea ever, and I didn't see any bugs in general for quite some time.

you want an organic way to get rid of some of the fleas...
this sounds crazy but ive used it
you set up a bowl and pour some dish soap in there.
put a light over the bowl and the fleas are attracted to the light, the jump @ it, they fall into the soapy water and meet a watery/soapy grave. soap has to be in the water, if its just water, they wont break the surface tension and can jump back out. it gets rid of some of them, not all, but since you have no pets that might actually work more effectively. we had to use frontline and the fleas were gone in a few days.

I heard somewhere that fleas can live up to a year without food.

this works, just use a Low powered light light 40 watt or so,and be careful so the light doesn't fall into the soapy water.. ;)

at True Value hardware store they sell a night light that has a sticky board[Like a mouse glue board}
that attracts the fleas at night, they jump towards the light and get stuck in the glue board.

First vacum the rugs, and then throw away the vacum bag/empty the container.
get carpets shampooed,if they need it done.and then After set off flea/bug bombs.

If you shampoo the rugs,After the bug bomb, you just shampooed up the long term chemicals in the rug,to help break the egg/hatching cycle. :(

been there, had a cat a long time ago,and one summer, man, the house, and cat had fleas bad.
