Best way to get on the Bay Bridge from Berkeley?

I'll need to do this at least once using my Fastrak (1st time), maybe several times starting today through Sunday. What's the best route now? TIA.

I didn't think that drive was fcked up. Only heading from Bezerkley onto 880, or on the E/B 580 ramp heading towards Dublin/Castro Valley.

They've been saying that that stretch of freeway has been steadily bumper to bumper all week on the news, so I wanted to avoid that method. I'm thinking either get on at Powell St. or maybe Grand Avenue. Grand Avenue was the preferred method when 80 was tough, but I heard it was unusable now (not accessible) since the truck accident. Don't know if this is true. It was just one post in a thread here.

Grand Ave is the primary detour route, consider it packed.

Try going Ashby to MLK and getting on the onramp from there, or go up to Claremont and get on 24, then 80. What time of the day will you be going?

We went yesterday, but I'll be making a similar trip tomorrow (Sunday), don't know what time yet. Probably sometime between 11:00 AM and 2 PM.

Yesterday, we went from North Oakland to S.F. and did OK. Got on an 880 South onramp right near Grand. In fact, we could see the collapsed overpass from the surface streets before we got on the freeway system. We were near the shopping center with the Home Depot/Best Buy, etc. Traffic wasn't bad at all, and I used my Fastrak for the first time.

that stretch has been steadily bumper to bumper 24 hours a day for the past decade. from what i've heard 80 West is no worse now than it ever was. The Monday after the collapse, traffic was so light that they didn't even need to turn on the metering lights on the Bay Bridge.

In short, get on and off the bridge the same way you always did.
