I just went skiing this weekend and realized how fun it is. I would like to get some used ski (downhill) equipment (skis, bindings, boots and poles) as cheaply as possible. What is the best way to do this? Also, what should i look for in skis and boots? What are the good brands? Thanks in advance!

Ryan

Edit: Legal methods prefered :-D

Ebay or go to ski hill and pick up their used equipment that they sell off at the end of the season.

off season is definatly the best time to buy gear. 50% off baby!! If you can get by with renting for the rest of this season I'd wait.

You can just buy my old stuff. Since completely converting to snowboarding 4 years ago...I haven't touched my stuff.

You should be able to find a ski swap somewhere near you. They are usually at the end of the season and you can get some really good deals on other people's used equipment. Try checking with the local shops and ski areas and ask if there are any ski swaps in the area.

The Play It Again sports stores I have seen are really expensive for old crappy gear. In some cases, you'd be better off just looking for a good end of season sale at a local sporting goods store. GI Joes, Big 5, etc.

I'll sell ya my old skis, boots, binding, and poles. They're probably 10 or 11 years old. :D I rent equipment every time I go now since I only go a couple times a year any more.

well all ski brands are pretty good.

Rosignols
K-2
Atomic
...can't think of much off the top of my head but it's hard to find generic ski's.

Also, Play it Again sports is usually a good place to ski stuff
