there is a hole in my wall, the wall is made out of drywall. the hole is about the size of a fist. maybe a little smaller.

what would be the best way of repairing it?

Stuff the hole with something, then splooge on it. Sand and paint!

errr.... by "splooge" I meant drywall spackle. Honest. :D

But leave room for the LEDs!

Hmmm...that would be cool lighting along a baseboard!

hmm? Fist size? If its too big to mud up you can cut it square and then get a square piece of drywall to fit. Blow up a baloon big enough to put in the wall and hold the piece in place. Mud up, sand, paint.

The baloon will just fade away

What he said. Also, if there's a stud in the wall behind the drywall, you could nail or screw the replacement piece of drywall to that, then spackle, sand and repaint.
