Well, the first thing you have to do is get enough bass to actually fill the car. I suggest you buy them, since no matter how good a fisherman your grandpa claims to be, he probably can't catch a full carload in one weekend, and then the old ones will start to smell. You probably want to put some plastic down on your seats, because otherwise they'll get nasty and you'll never get it clean. Then it's pretty much just pour them in until they reach the brim. I suggest you leave the top down and park in the shade.

I have a 99 Sahara, first things first, that sound pod you linked to isn't for a TJ so don't buy it. If it has a sound bar just replace all of the speakers, they are 5.25's IIRC. The speakers in the dash are almost 4x6's but they are some bastard weird size. You can get a 5.25 bracket on ebay for like $15 so you can put a normal size in. I mounted my amps under the rear seat and I built a wood cover to go over them for when I take the back seat out and I have a 12" truck box that goes in the "trunk". Still gives me a little bit of room in the back for storage. If you want to give up the whole trunk you can drop something like this in:

BTW, I live like 15 miles from Quadratec and I usually just go there to pick stuff up, nice people.

Best is in fact not a super expensive woofer setup. Think tactile inducer bolted on your seats. That will give you way more punch to the body than some woofer trying to push air your way in a open environment. I would skip drivers completely and go with hydraulics. Think simulation rides.

Bass

Big Bass - probably take fewer of these to fill up a Jeep.

That is striped bass. If the OP lives on the right coast, it'll take fewer to fill up his wrangler for sure.

Jeep makes a sub that mounts in the center console. Not sure if there's any aftermarket version.

I had a 95 YJ. I bought the 6x9 speaker pods that fit by the roll bar behind the front seats and mounted an amp under the back seat.

The best bet is to get a big full range box and replace the back seat with it.

Personally, I always thought the hum of a set of Super Swampers was music enough. Couldn't hear the radio over it anyway.

You obviously never owned a jeep, no room under the front seats at all and about 2.5-3" under the rear in a TJ. You couldn't fit a 6x9 in a cardboard box under the rear seat. I have my amps under there and it's really really tight.

Just get some decent 6x9's and a cheap amp. It'll crank. You won't get too much bass, but don't bother with a Jeep. Someone will just break in and steal it.

A 10" Sub will provide plenty of Bass. You could probably get away with an 8" even. Make a Box to fit under a seat or on the floor somewhere.
