On a related note - XnView has a handy feature whereby you can tell it to search for duplicates or similar images in a folder structure and/or selected folder structures.

The simplest setting is 'same file name', next one up is 'same file data' (which is what I guess most dupe finders do), the third is 'same image data' (I've never used this, but I imagine that it's to say "these images are visually identical"), the fourth is the similarity search.

I tried Glary Duplicate files finder, everything turns out easy. filter options and convenient checkups, these make the job done in a minute.

well over past years i too had same problems finding dublicate files.It consumed lots of my memory. I installed software
DuplicateFilesDeleter.It is easy to use.You just have to enter search criteria and rest the software will do itself.It shows how many dublicate files are there and what you want to do with it.
