lol, just correct them by pronounce your name. You don't even have to say, "My name is..."

They said "Hi Bob"
You said "Mike"
and let them correct their mistake.

Oh, lighten up and have fun with it. A BA at my last job kept getting mine and another guy's name in our group mixed up. We'd just just joke about it and tease her until she finally got it right.

Other than the fact that we were both white, we didn't look anything alike. I'm tall, relatively skinny, and have a goatee. He was shorter, chunky, clean shaven, with long sideburns.

Yeah but if you go through some trouble to help this person out and didn't ask for anything back, the least they could do is get your name right.

Stop helping them then.

Carry around a sharpie and masking tape. When they call you the wrong name, interrupt them ("excuse me a moment"), pull out the tape and sharpie, write your name on a strip of tape, tear it off, and adhere it to your forehead. Then say, "sorry for the interuption." I'd bet they'd remember your name the next time.

My friend gets called by the wrong name (my name) too. He seems to stop caring but I care since I want to work there long term. And I guess I find it more disrespectful than he does.

Man, talk about lack of self-esteem. Just correct him. I'm sure he feels like an idiot calling you the wrong name as well. What's he going to do, fire you because HE called you the wrong name?

I get called by the wrong name on a daily basis - just because nobody knows how to pronounce my last name "Bloedow". I've just come to accept that not everyone will get it right. In fact, I just answer to "blow-doe" without even thinking about it.

It's become my nickname I guess.

so how do you pronounce it?

piqued my interest

blay-doe, like playdough but with a "B" :p

I would've pronounced your name blow-dow. Guess I would've been wrong.

When some one calls you by the wrong name, just slap them hard and run...
The person with the real name would get screwed :)

Dump a beer over their head and shout "WRONG!" next time they use the incorrect name.

A: Bob, can you help me with something?
B: I don't know where Bob is, but I can help you look for him. (My name is ...)

At least it's not your spouse calling you by his/her ex-wife/husband's name. Believe me, that's worse.

As long as you do it tactfully, no one's going to be offended at you that you corrected them. More likely, they'll feel ashamed of themselves, unless they're really thick-headed.

dude how is correcting them going to come off as rude. just say im sorry, but my name is so and so..

and i think the longer you wait to say something about it makes you seem like a bigger banana-head

Well I guess I think it's somewhat rude because you would be putting that person on the spot as looking like an idiot.

Either you correct them, or ignore them if they call you by the wrong name
Meanwhile, don't let them get to you.
