Best way to correct someone who calls you by the wrong name?

So at work certain people keeps calling me by the wrong name. They get me mixed up with a friend who works there. Now aside from the fact that we're both Asian, I don't see how they can get us confused. What boggles the mind is some of the people who calls me by the wrong name are people whom I've personally gone out of my way to help solve their problems. So we've talked on more than one occassion.

Part of me wants to ignore them when they call me by the wrong name until they realize why I'm not responding. Part of me wants to politely correct them. And then part of me wants to start calling them by the wrong name too and see their reaction when they find out they've been doing the same to me.

But seriously, I find it very disrespectful to get someone's name wrong, especially when they've been helping you.

A) asians all look the same. you're sol.
B) calling one of them by the wrong name won't result in them realizing they are calling you the wrong name.

I get called by the wrong name on a daily basis - just because nobody knows how to pronounce my last name "Bloedow". I've just come to accept that not everyone will get it right. In fact, I just answer to "blow-doe" without even thinking about it.

It's become my nickname I guess.

Go by Chinaman 1 and Chinaman 2, which is easy enough for your simple-minded co-workers to grasp.

Oh, lighten up and have fun with it. A BA at my last job kept getting mine and another guy's name in our group mixed up. We'd just just joke about it and tease her until she finally got it right.

Other than the fact that we were both white, we didn't look anything alike. I'm tall, relatively skinny, and have a goatee. He was shorter, chunky, clean shaven, with long sideburns.

Okay here's the other thing. I'm Asian but I do have an American name. So it's not like they cannot get it right. I don't want to come off as rude because I am hoping to get hired full time there. My friend gets called by the wrong name (my name) too. He seems to stop caring but I care since I want to work there long term. And I guess I find it more disrespectful than he does.

Yeah but if you go through some trouble to help this person out and didn't ask for anything back, the least they could do is get your name right.

We both spent a lot of time helping out this BA...the other guy moreso than me. Like I said, we just joked, teased, and had a good time with it. It eventually was ingrained in her mind what name went with who.

Work is a giant pain in the ass enough already. Don't do anything to make it worse.

Well I guess I think it's somewhat rude because you would be putting that person on the spot as looking like an idiot.
