Pan sear it on both sides. 2 minutes each.
Then, put in 500 degree oven for 5 minutes. Pull out, cover pan with foil, and let sit for 10 minutes. Serve.

Maybe I just cook really thick steaks which we eat well done, but mine has turned out absolutely fine following this method. Us Canadians use different temps and we have a really old stove. Tomato, use a glass (Pyrex) dish but no not a metal sheet![]()
I was thinking the exact same thing.Originally posted by: Astaroth33

That's gotta be it.. 400F in Canadian degrees = 350F in American degrees, depending on the current exchange rate..

You don't need a broiler to cook steak. Take it out of the package, wash it, add seasonings, dump a whole bunch of BBQ/steak sauce on it, plus extra to coat the dish, and cook it at 400 for an hour or so.

This is all you need to know. You can adjust cooking time depending on the size/thickness of the steak.

I bought some steaks that were on sale, and now I have to figure out how to cook them (they've been sitting in the fridge for 3 days).
My oven has no broiler, and I don't have a grill... all I have is an oven and a small george forman grill which probably won't fit the steaks.
Can anyone recommend a good cooking technique for the steaks (in the oven or on the stove)? My options are, unfortunately, quite limited.

Thanks werk! I cooked all 3 steaks like this last night, and they were so tender and juicy. 30 seconds pan-seared on each side, straight into the oven for 2 more minutes on each side. Simple and delicious!![]()

Could you please explain why?
I see nothing wrong with cooking a steak in the oven if you have to. It's still a steak.
