Best way to convert vga to hdmi?

I am having the hardest time trying to get my mac's vide card via firewire to display on a HDMI port. I have searched google and cannot find an answer.

I do not believe you can convert VGA to HDMI, at minimum you would need an active device to do it I would think. You can do digital -> analog but not analog -> digital without an active conversion process if I'm not mistaken.

I agree. Thats why I need to find a way to convert. The screen will not start.

Does your Mac only have VGA out? No other video ports?

It has a thunderbolt output and a HDMI output. I need to convert to vga. I guess I did not phrase the original questions correctly.
