Best way to connect my xbox360

I've just purchased an xbox360 which will be delivered shortly.

I'm going to hook it up to my LG 19" LCD monitor. Would it be best for me to connect it to the DVI port or the Dsub(VGA) port.

I'm thinking the DVI would give the clearer image but some when searching google some people seem to be saying VGA would be better.

I'm obviously hoping to get the HD resolution out of the xbox360 onto my LCD.

any suggestions? Also will my monitors native resolution of 1440 x 900 work fine with the 360?

thanks

Cheers. It's the 360 arcade so I'm guessing it won't have the hdmi port.

So if I connect it via VGA to my monitor will this give me the full resolution of 1400 x 900?

I'll find all this out when I get the 360 but I'm a little impatient :)

Cheers.

Just curious - why did you get the Arcade version?

That said, if it's a brand new one, I'm pretty sure it will have HDMI, as I think all new 360 consoles come with it. Although if you're hooking it up to a PC monitor, chances are that won't help you anyway.

How would you hook it up via DVI? VGA is your only option - which is a fine, anyway, as the picture looks great and you can do just about any reasonable 16:9 or 4:3 resolution. Just try to get the official MS-branded VGA cable, as I (and many others) have had issues with cheap 3rd party stuff - in particular ghosting images and off-colors.

As far as I know, _all_ the 360 arcade models (when labeled as such) have HDMI.

I've gone for a arcade version as it's a mobile phone deal where they give you an xbox360 for free with an 18 month contract so no choice on what version I had unfortunately.

In regards to the lead, if the VGA offers just as good resolution anyway then that's even better as I can keep my computer plugged into the DVI port and my xbox can plug into the VGA port. For some reason I thought the VGA option would result in poorer image quality.

thanks
